摘要
荀子关于语言的"约定俗成"之说已被语言学界普遍接受,但对语言"约定俗成"的过程却少有论及。可以从前后语言状态下讨论语言"约定俗成"的过程。在前语言状态下,由共同场景下共同意识焦点的牵引,语言在某一社团经过无形的"约定俗成";在后语言状态下,通过语言"传递之链",语言最终被整个社会接受。
Xun Zi's theory, i.e. that language is established by popular usage has been generally accepted by the linguists. However, Xun Zi doesn't discuss how language is 'established by popular usage'. We can discuss the course from the early and post language condition. Under the early language condition and guided by the focus of common awareness, language can be 'established by popular usage' in a community. Under the post language condition, language is accepted by the whole society by the language 'transmission link'.
