The short—range forecast of southwest monsoon by ships operating at the North Indian Ocean is mainly based on the variation of the low pressure above the North Indian Ocean and the subtropical high pressure above the South Indian Ocean,while the mid—range weather forecast is mainly on the basis of the frequency of southwest monsoon and the synoptic situa- tion.
