A Study of Wang Cheng's Views on Confucianists

王充视著书立说之鸿儒为儒生的最高层次,肯定其文化创造力,空前突出鸿儒与“立言”的价值,其儒生观对于儒生的自我定位、儒学的发展具有积极的意义。

Wang Chong thinks that only those Confucian scholars who writes books to advance the development of Confucianism are the best scholars, and he not only approves such scholars' cultural productivity, but also attaches unprecedented importance to the value of them and their attempts to achieve glory by writing. Therefore, his views are of great significance to promote the development of Confucianism and to help the Confucian scholars appropriately conduct self-appraisal.
