xGrid: a Grid Prototype for Interdisciplinary Research

摘要 x Grid是一种面向交叉学科研究的网格 .它把分散在各地的高性能计算机、海量存储器、贵重仪器和数据库等用中间件软件有机粘合在一起 ,形成一个信息处理基础设施 ,为各地的科技工作者提供单一映像的虚拟资源平台 .同时 ,x Grid提供了多种手段支持交叉学科的科研和教学活动 ,包括 Web使用界面、应用模板库、可视化支撑平台和协同工作工具等 .本文详细讨论了 x As a grid prototype designed for interdisciplinary research, xGrid can seamlessly connect distributed supercomputers, high capacity storages, precious instruments and databases, to form an information processing infrastructure and to provide researchers in different fields with a single system image of the overall resoures and computing power. Moreover, xGrid develops various methods to support interdisciplinary researches and studies, including web interface, applications templates, visualization supporting platform and cooperative supporting tools. Idea and detailed on design of xGrid is discussed in the paper.
