越文化研究的回顾和展望

古代越人文化落后,没有文字,所以早期的越史和越文化多存留于先秦的汉人文献中。这些文献很有价值,但也有不少错误的传说。唯一一种由先秦越地越人写作的是《越绝书》,此书经过东汉初人的整理补充而流传下来,价值甚高。此外,东汉初人研究越文化的著作还有《吴越春秋》和《论衡》,也都有重要价值。东汉以后,由于种种原因,越文化的研究者和成果很少。20世纪二三十年代,若干学者以新的思维和方法研究越文化,其中顾颉刚的研究成果具有创见。最近20年来,越文化研究出现高潮,许多研究成果相继问世。特别是从2003年开始的关于"古代越文化传播分布地域实勘研究",通过对古代越人流散地区的实地踏勘,对古代越文化进行追踪研究,收获不小,其成果即将以论文集形式出版,对古代越文化研究具有创新意义。

Ancient Yue culture was underdeveloped, without writing characters, and most of the records of early Yue history and culture can be found in the literature by the Han people of the Pre-Qin Period. Though valuable, those records have many mistakes. The only book written by Yue people at that time is The Lost History of Yue; other valuable ones include Annals about the States of Wu and Yueand Discourses Weighed in the Balance written in early Eastern Han Dynasty. Since then, there had been few researchers and achievements in terms of Yue culture studies. Till the 1920s and 1930s, some scholars began to work on Yue culture with new ideas and approaches. Among them, Gu Jiegang's acdemic achievements were very creative. The past twenty years have turned out to a climax for Yue culture studies, implementing a great many research programs, especially 'The Survey of the Geographical Dissemination and Distribution of Ancient Yue Culture'. It has made an innovative contribution to ancient Yue culture studies.
