The general status of water supply in New York is presented, and especially the annual water quality report 2002 is discussed in detail in focuses of the water quality monitoring program, annual water quality report schedule, water quality accident settlement and implementation of water quality standards. Meanwhile the water quality situations of N.Y. and Shanghai are compared, and some suggestions on water quality administration are submitted on the basis of the practices of water enterprises in this country.
