An experiment was made to determine the effect of wheat-based diets supplemented with non-starch polysaccharide enzymes on the growth and carcass quality of fattening pigs. The pigs were fed on either the corn-based diets (group Ⅰ) or wheat-based diets supplemented with the enzymes (group Ⅱ) or wheat-based diets (group Ⅲ). The results showed that compared with group I, the group Ⅱ increased in ADG by 3.7% and decreased in F/G by 2.6%, and no significant difference was found between these two groups(P<0.05). Compared with group Ⅱ, the ADG of group Ⅲ decreased by 12.9%, and F/G increased by 13.8%, the difference was significant(P<0.01). For carcass quality, there was no significant difference between the two groups fed on wheat-based diets (P>0.05), both of them were better than the group fed on corn-based diets (P<0.05). It was concluded that wheat-based diets could significantly improve pig's carcass quality, and the wheat-based diets with the enzymes could take the place of corn-based diets and wouldn't significantly effect the performance of fattening pigs, but the wheat-based diets without the enzymes would have a significant negative effect on the performance and feed conversion rate of fattening pigs in case of that corn-based diets was fully replaced by it.
