THE STUDIES ON POLYETHER ANTIBIOTICS Ⅱ. THE FERMENTATION, ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF ANTIBIOTIC SIPI-A4-0040

抗生素SIPI-A4-0040是由吸水链霉菌琼中亚种产生的聚醚类抗生素,对革兰氏阳性细菌和分枝杆菌活性较强,分子式为C_(44)H_(75)O_(14)Na,根据它的紫外、红外、核磁共振、质谱和其他理化性质以及硅胶薄层层析图谱,认为它与Lonomycin A相同。

A strain of Strepiomyces SIPI-A4-0040 was isolated from soil collected at Qiong Zhong County, Hai Nan Province. Its metabolite which is active against gram-positive bacteria was identical with Lonomy-cin A, a polyether antibiotic. Taxonomic studies on strain SIPI-A4-0040 were carried out on its morphological, cultural and physiological characteristics. The sporophores have compact spirals,the spores are short cyclind-rical with rugose (0.8~1.0× 1.0~1.5 micrometer).The distinctive hygroscopic character on certain media was observed. The color of the aerial mycelium was brownish gray on most media. This strain was closely related to Streptomyces hygrosco picus (Jensen) Wasksman et Henrici, but some differences in cultural characteristics, spore surface and the ultilization of carbon sources. Therefore, it was named Streptomyces hygroscopicus subsp, Qiong Zhong n. subsp.
