Resilient Packet Ring(RPR) is a packet-based networking technology combining the advantage of SDH/SONET and ethernet. It has become one of the main technology to build the new generation of MAN and implement the combination of network of Telecom, CATV and computer. In this paper, The RPR is introduced and compared with other techonology, and then its advantage, key technology and future are discussed.
