My Reflections on the Disciplinary Location of Library Science from the Perspective of Humanities

图书馆的功能演化历程和一般的认定方式表明,目前图书馆所面临的困境和学科定位方面所遭遇到的尴尬的根本原因是人文要素缺失。作为一种文化机构的图书馆,是事业型、公益性的服务部门,是保存和传承人类文明的重要工具,只有恰当地树立起以人文为本的理念,才能从根本上解决图书馆的学科定位问题。

The evolutionary process of the library′s function and the general way of evaluating this function indicate that the reason for the predicament the library is facing and for the dilemma to which the location of library science is subject is the lack of humanistic elements. The library, as a cultural institution and a service-type sector for public good, is an important tool for preserving and passing on human civilizations. Only by establishing a people-oriented notion, can the location of the library be solved with root and branch.
