马基雅维里在《君主论》中系统阐述了君主统治术理论,其目的证明手段正确的权术思想后来被称为"马基雅维里主义"。数百年来人们对此褒贬不一。联系当时的社会政治现实,马基雅维里主义的理论基础和包含了马基雅维里主义的非道德政治观,既具历史进步性,又有消极因素;马基雅维里主义本身一方面应受到批判,另一方面也应联系当时的社会政治现实看问题。

Machiavelli elaborated systematically the theory of the monarch's ruling political trickery in The Prince, among which his thought of political trickery of 'The end justifies the means' was called Machiavellism later. People have passed different judgments on Machiavellism in the past hundreds of years. In fact, regarding the social political realities at that time, the theoretical basis of Machiavellism and the non-moral political viewpoint including Machiavellism have both historical progressive nature and negative factors. On the one hand, Machiavellism itself should be criticized; on the other hand, it should be considered with the reality of society and politics at that time.
