Analysis On China's Population Policies in the 1950-1960s

二十世纪五六十年代,党和政府初步认识到了人口问题的紧迫性,制定了以节制生育、提高人口素质为核心的人口政策,并在一段时期内和一定程度上得到落实。但由于种种原因,此期的人口政策未能有效地贯彻下去,因而人口数量的控制没有非常明显的成效,人口的素质也未有非常明显的提高。

As early as in 1950-1960s, the Party and the central government realized the ur- gency of the population proplem in China,and made. population policies which emphasized. reducing the quantity and improving the quality as well as the effects of the policies.Because of all kinds of reasons, these policies had no enough positive effects and were soon abolished.
