To observe the levels of serum IL-8 in patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS), the levels of serum IL-8 in 66 patients with SARS were measured by RIA, in comparision with controls. The results showed that levels of serum IL-8 in patients with SARS were significantly higher than those in controls. In the convalescent patient, the levels of IL-8 were various. Conclusion: There is immunoreaction abnormality in patients with SARS.The change of IL-8 in patients with SARS might play an important role in its pathogenesis.
