重读德莱塞的《珍妮姑娘》

A Brief Review on Dreiser’s Jennie Gerhardt

中国学界历来都认为德莱塞的长篇小说《珍妮姑娘》是一本自然主义小说，表现了主人公在环境的重压下，被迫沦为别人的情妇，成为环境的牺牲品。本文独辟蹊径，运用文本和新发现的资料以证明主人公以及书中其他人物命运乃男有原因。

Jennie Gerhardt, a novel written by Theodore Dreiser, has been considered as a masterpiece of naturalism, demonstrating the fact that the heroine became a victim of environment, becoming the mistress of men. But, based on textual analysis and recently published books and articles, the author of this paper gives a different interpretation.
