BoⅢ A, a new male sterile line developed through crossing Bo B with 1441 and backcrossing with Bo A of three line hybrid rice as recurrent parent, is characterized by perfect male sterility, high outcrossing rate, high rate of stigma exsertion and ideal flowering habit. Bo Ⅲ You 273, a combination of BoⅢ A with the restorer line 273, showed strong resistance to rice diseases and pests, high grain yielding and high grain quality, all of the 12 indexes match the standards of 2nd class for Quality Rice set up by the Ministry of Agriculture, China.
