1999年,43岁的姆旺戈佩戴上北大校徽,正式成为北大生命科学院的一名博士生。于2003年他以优秀的成绩取得博士学位,留校继续攻读博士后,并将在新学期成为北大生科院的一名老师。能够取得如此骄人成绩的外籍学生并不多,尤其是拿到理科博士学位的更是少之又少。而在姆旺戈取得的这一项项耀眼成绩的背后,延伸的则是一条汗水与泪水刻画出的并不平坦的成功之道。
In 1999, a 43-year old Congolese, Mwange Kaliman Koma, put on hisschool badge and became a Peking University student. He came withno knowledge of Chinese, and studied in the Life Science College. After4 years of hard work, he had not only acquired a good command ofChinese, and also he obtained his doctorate degree in 2003. He stayedto continue his postal-doctorate research, and in the coming semester,he will be a teacher in the Life Science College, Peking University.Few foreign students accomplish as much; even fewer gain a sciencedoctorate.
