文章对武汉音乐学院 1988年至 2 0 0 3年关于美国音乐的研究进行综述 ,论述了其对美国的作曲技术理论、作曲家及作品、音乐教育、音乐学学科、流行音乐、美国音乐期刊诸方面的研究状况 ,并对武汉音乐学院这一时期的美国音乐研究成果进行总结 。

The article summarized the research of American music in Wuhan Conservatory of Music during 1998~2003, discussed the research status of American composition theory and technique, composers and their works, music education, musicological subject, pop music, and American music periodicals. And the papers also sum up the result of American music research in Wuhan Conservatory of Music during that period, proposed some suggestion for imperfect points in the research.
