Talking With Sculpture Prof. Yang Qirui

杨其瑞教授认为,就雕塑,就视觉而言,不管是人是物,都是有生命意义的,重要的是如何去发现、感悟平常中的不平常,挖掘有启示性的精神。他的作品几乎没有手艺意义上的技法,几近于视觉上的辨证。雕塑艺术语言是一个综合体,包括内涵、意象、哲理和力量感,作为教育者,应注重“创”的价值。研究中国传统雕塑,不能只用西式教学中的技法和形式来解决,应把中西并置起来研究,才有广阔的研究前景。

Sculpture Prof. Yang Qirui thinks that sculp-ture and visual art have their own lives nomatter what kind of form they are, which en-courage us to find and realize the enlighten-ing spirit and the uncommonness among or-dinary things. Hardly emphasizing his craft,his works display some visual effects close toa dialectics. He said, since sculpture is a com-plex of image, strength, connotation andphilosophy, educators must focus oncreativity. In studying traditional Chinesesculpture, besides those forms and techniquesfrom western art education, the native and thewest must be compared at the same time soas to make a deeper research.
