Two Pieces of Compiled Textual Data on the Champion in the Imperial Examination

一、章氏族人所办网站有多篇文章依据不同地方文献都说浦城章文谷为南唐状元。鉴于这些网站系列文章中所涉及的古代章姓名人的事迹都能找到纸质文献依据;浦城章氏五代时期甚为显贵,众多子孙中有个把文采出众的不足为奇;章文谷的父辈在南唐做高官的较多,有利于他在科举考试中争取好名次,所以章文谷于南唐夺魁之说虽通行史籍未载,当亦不为虚言;其生卒年可大致推估为公元940—1000年;宋代不少名人或为其直系后人,或为其世系颇近的族人。二、文章又辑录核心史籍、地方文献、笔记、工具书及其它记载有关宋代状元毕渐生平的零星资料,并据此勾画出其生平大概。

(1) Several essays in the web site set up by the clansmen of Zhang's family, based on different local documents, all say that Zhang Wengu in Pucheng county was an imperial examination champion in the Southern Tang Dynasty. Because all the paper foundations can be found in the essay series at these webs which are concerned with the deeds of the ancient famous persons named Zhang, it is not surprised at all that there appeared one or two men of outstanding literary talent in the descendants of very celebrated Zhangs family in Pucheng county in Five Dynasties; more forefathers of Zhang Wengu were high officials in the Southern Tang Dynasty, which was favorable for him to get a good place in the imperial examination, so it would not be empty words that Zhang Wengu won the first place in the Southern Tang Dynasty , though it is not written in the generous historical records; it can be calculated that his birth and death years was about A. D940 - 1000; many notable people in the Song Dynasty were either his directed - related generations or his close genealogy clansmen. (2) These essays then have compiled core historical records, local documents, notes, reference books and any other fragmentary data about the life of Bi Jian, champion of the imperial examination in the Song Dynasty, which outlines his life story.
