The present paper deals with five new species of Helina R.-D. , 1830, from Gansu, China. The type specimens are preserved in the Public Health & Anti-epidemic Station of Gansu Province. Helina rariciliata Wu, sp. nov. (Fig. 1)Male: body length 8.0-10.5mm. This new species is closely related to Helina annosa (Zett. , 1838), but differs from the latter in legs black except for knees with yellow-brown color; eyes sparsely covered with short cilia; basal half of mid femur with a row of strong PV; 3rd and 4th tergites of abdomen without lateral patches, however, some specimens with traces of lateral patches.Type locality: Subei, Gansu. Helina qilianshanensis Wu sp. nov. (Fig. 2)Male: Body length 8.0mm. Similar to Helina allotalla (Meigen, 1830), but may be distinguished from the latter by the width of interfrontalia about 1.5 times the width of 3rd antennal segment, not 2.0; stpl 2:2, not 1:2; hind tibia with 2 ad and 4 av, not 4 and 8 respectively.Type locality: Subei (Qilianshan mountainous area, 3,200-3,500m). Helina prominenicauda Wu sp. nov. (Fig. 3)Male: Body length 5.5-6.0 mm. It resembles Helina dupiicata (Meigen, 1826), but can be separated from the congeneric species in following external characters:Type locality: Shandan (Qilianshan Mountainous area, 3,400m), also found in Zhangyie and Maqu (plateau steppe, 3,600m.), Gansu. Helina subhirsutitibia Wu sp. nov. (Fig. 4)Male: Body length 8.0mm. This species is closely related to Helina hirsutitibia Ma et Zhao, 1984, but is distinguishable from the latter by the frontal width equal to the distance between posterior ocelli; inter frontalia not disappeared at narrowest point of frons; legs wholly black except abdominal surface of median third of hind tibia orange red color.Type locality: Maqu(Plateau steppe, 3,600m). Helina maquensis Wu sp. nov. (Fig. 5)Male: Body length 8.0mm. The present species is similar to Helina annosa (Zett. , 1838) but differs from its congeneric species in legs wholly black; fore tibia without median P; pra absent.Type locality: Maqu (plateau steppe, 3,800m).
