Dai Zhen's study of Confucian classics made a great contribution to the development of thoughts in that period . His study tried to refute Zhu Xi's philosophy of soul and disposition with Confucian arguments in the pre-Qin days, and confirm the rationality of feelings and desires. His study also made an attempt to correct the fallacy of the Neo-Confucianism in the Song and Ming dynasties as well as the mainstream of ideology in the early Qing Dynasty. Therefore, Dai Zhen's study is of more profound significance and unique academic individuality.
