摘要
Weng Tonghe opposed the foreign invasion to China in name of doing missionary work and proposed to set up a Sino-Foreign Office and solve the hists through negotiations. He held a positive attitude toward the western learning brought by missionaries and approved of China’s introducing institutional reforms. All of these proved that some officials of highest rank in the late Qing Dynasty were sensible and realistic in facing up the western learning and changing with times, which directly influenced Wuxu Reform Movement.
