盛宣怀是中国近代推行洋务教育的重要代表人物。他的"实业教育"和"教育救国"思想对中国近代教育的发展产生了积极的影响。在"中体西用"的方针指导下,他一方面注重对学生进行传统教育,另一方面又大胆学习西方科学知识和教育制度,培养了大批新式人才,为教育的近代化作出了贡献。

Sheng Xuanhuai was a representative of modern education and his education thoughts aimed for industry and savingthecountrybypromotingeducation caused great influence on modern China.Under the guidance of thought combination of the west and the east,Sheng Xuanhuai,on one hand, emphasized the importance of traditional education, on the other hand,he brought in advanced educational system and cultivated a multitude of intellectuals,which impelled the modernization of Chinese education.
