Measurement automation is a key factor in the success of the measurement programs. This paper discusses the scope of measurement automation. Further, the 7 requirements which a good measurement tool should meet are proposed. And a software measurement tool (SPMT) is designed and implemented. the architecture of the SPMT is described, the roles and their responsibility are discussed, and the subsystems of the SPMT are introduced.
