在清朝政腐败、国难日亟的形势下 ,强烈的爱国主义思想使周素园冲破了封建道德伦理规范的樊笼 ,走上维新救亡之路 ,进而创办自治学社 ,领导贵州辛亥革命 ,推翻了清朝在贵州的统治。建立了大汉贵州军政府。军政府被反动势力颠覆后 ,周素园为换救革命 ,流亡渝、汉、京、沪等地 ,辗转于南北军阀之间数十年 ,看到了军阀的祸国殃民 ,决心不再屈从军阀的要挟 ,走上重新努力探索自己人生道路和中国出路的新征程。

Because of the corruption of Qing Dynasty government and national calamity urgency ,an intense patriotic thoughts makes Zhou Suyuan break through the state of confinement of feudal morality standard ,going towards reform and establishing a self-governing association. He leads the Revolution of 1911 in Guizhou and overthrows Qing government control in Guizhou to set up Han military government of Guizhou.After the overthrowing of military government by the reactionary forces,for saving revolution,he goes into exile to Chongqing ,Wuhan,Beijing,Shanghai and many places and pass through Southern and northern warlords for several ten years .Seeing the warlords bringing calamity to the country and the people,he decides not to submit to their pressure,going towards trying to explore his life and way out of China again.
