林语堂提倡幽默的缘由,主要有四个:改革文风之需要;改造国民性之需要;克服人性“异化”之需要;时代高压之选择。
There are four major reasons that Lin Yu- tang advocates humour: the demand of reforming the style of writing, the need of remoulding of Chinese national characters, the overcoming of dehumanization and the choice of high pressure of times.
