Enhancing multilateral security is the strategic measure for maintaining long-standing peace in the Asia-Pacific region. The general security situation in the Asia-Pacific is comparatively stable. The relationship among major powers is improving steadily. Although multilateral security cooperation in the Asia-Pacific started rather late, the momentum of development is fairly good. At the same time, given the complicated and changeable security situation in Asia Pacific which is a vast area with many countries, enhancing multilateral security cooperation is faced with a series of severe challenges.
