摘要
本文从韩礼德的系统功能语言学角度出发,对《新概念英语》第二卷中的一篇课文“A Private Conversa-tion”作经验纯理功能分析初探。其目的是:(1)通过功能语言学分析表明,对英语教材进行语篇分析可以帮助我们更进一步了解所选课文的语篇结构,准确判断语篇体裁;(2)通过对英语教材进行语篇分析来展示功能语言学的实用性和可操作性。
This paper aims at introducing M. A. K. Halliday's systemic functional linguistics esp. the experiential
metafunction to make a preliminary analysis of the text' A Private Conversation' extracted from New Concept English.
There are two purposes: 1) a functional analysis of the English teaching texts can help us know better the structure of the
present text and make an exact judgment of the genre; 2) a functional analysis of the English teaching materials can pro-
vide a practical demonstration of two fundamental features of Functional Grammar: multifunctionality in the clause, and
determining the role of context in the kinds of choices that are made.
