Analyses the effect of lightning protection earthing system in first phase of shanghai pearl line and the reason why some vehicles on the line suffered with lightning stroke, it concludes that the lightning protection system of vehicle shall closely co-ordinate with that of OCS, it raises the concept of lightning protection for urban mass transit system and proposes to strengthen and improve lightning protection earthing system of OCS.
