This paper first analyses the spiritual characteristics of “madman” in Lu Xun 's Madman's Diary. With this as a prologue, the paper then expounds the madman's spiritual genetic heredity and its variation in the contemporary novels by combination with the specific images of “madman” since the middle of 1980s, and elaborates on its values in modern times.
