A Rent-seeking Analysis in Financial Fields of Economy-shunting China

银行业的高度国有垄断和限制民营银行的进入,官方严格控制利率,股市的市场准入控制等等都使金融领域成了中国“寻租”的重灾区。寻租对经济效率的损害是巨大的,而寻租行为的存在主要是由于制度选择所造成的。解决中国寻租行为泛滥的问题,关键是制度的改变和完善。

This paper focuses on the rent-seeking study of financial fields of China.As we know,rent-seeking is harmful to economic efficiency and induces the loss of social welfare.Government intervening will induce rent-seeking behaviors.Many undeveloped countries are trying to reform their institutions for reducing rent-seeking.They,however,usually ignore that in the process of reforming,reformers always want the reformed institutions to prefer themselves to their opponents.So reform often becomes another great rent-seeking behavior.Currently,the most im-portant research we should do is how to design a reforming procedure to avoid reform falling into rent-seeking trap.
