Small banks have more tendencies to lend money to small enterprises, which induces the small bank advantage. Instead of involving the debate of competitive advantage of banks, the author thinks that small banks and the big ones are complementary to each other in the credit market. The paper explains the range of the existence of the small bank advantage, and discloses the meaning of the advantage: the information cost advantage and the agent cost advantage. Finally the author puts forward its market positioning .
