This paper is to testify that the two chapters of From the very beginning there were no distinctions for Tao and Long, long ago, King Yao asked his minister Shun are mixed up into On the Uniformity of All Things from the outer chapters of Chuangtzu. Some Chuangtzu scholars have pointed out that the chapter of From the very beginning there were no distinctions for Tao comes from the outer chapter but they did not make further elaboration. As to the chapter of Long, long ago, King Yao asked his minister Shun, no one suspects that it is the intermingled part. The author distinguishes the two parts on the basis of a detailed analysis of their styles, close reading of the text and the thematic and tonic coherence in the context. The author still holds that the three chapters below Therefore, when a sage wages a war in The Most Venerable Teacher are also intermingled parts in which the part of The true man in ancient times was stern, but not haughty has never been pointed out before and, owing to the ambiguity of the words, has never been expounded smoothly and plainly by Chuangtzu scholars. The author not only reviews the former discussion, but also elucidates the reasons that the three chapters does not belong to the inner chapters of Chuangtzu by making deep analysis of the text.
