Investigation on the Dichotomy of Translation Strategies

翻译策略是翻译教学中不可缺少的内容。人们探讨翻译策略通常会用二分法来谈论直译与意译、语义翻译与交际翻译、归化翻译与异化翻译等概念 ,并往往有不少人把这些概念混淆在一起。对直译 意译、语义翻译 交际翻译和异化翻译 归化翻译三对翻译策略进行探讨 ,追溯其根源 。

Translation strategies are an indispensable content in translator training. Whenever discuss translation strategies, many people would mention the dichotomy between literal translation and free translation, semantic translation and communicative translation, domesticating translation and foreignizing translation. But very often these concepts are mixed together and cause confusions. This article attempts to analyse the main features of these three pairs of strategies and summarize the differences between them.
