王家卫的电影一直在商业和艺术之间寻求平衡,而且"另类"正越来越成为一种商业姿态;断裂的时空观符合后现代艺术的"拼凑"特色,但其深层原因在于超越存在主义的精神求索,是充满了渴望的青春物语;孤独的精神世界是王家卫自身在社会、电影界的精神投影,是在现代与后现代之间徘徊不定的精神"失语"。
Wang Jiawei has been seeking a certain balance between commercial and artistic pursuits for his films, with his 'distinctiveness' being more and more a commercial orientation. The fragmentation in his space-time philosophy tallies with the 'medley' feature of the post-modern art, but the underlying motivation for it is the spiritual pursuit beyond existentialism and the monologue of the youth that is filled with aspirations. Wang's solitary inner world is his spiritual projection on the society and the film circles; it is a spiritual 'aphasia' that reveals his hesitation between modernistic and post-modern arts.
