Chinese historians have had profound reflections since 1979 upon the developmental course, historical functions, and the exact understanding and correct usage, of materialistic views of history and of Marxism in history itself, through which, the understanding of the basic principles of materialistic views of history has been deepened, the correct direction of Marxist study of history had been found out, the trust in developing Marxist study of history has been confirmed, and the historical study in China has been promoted.
