Language and culture are interdependent and blend well with each other. Different nations have different cultural background knowledge. It is necessary to learn the culture which connects with the language. Facts show that the lack of cultural background knowledge often leads to culture shock in English learning. Beginning with the relation between language and culture, the article focuses on the effect of culture on reading shows the necessity of culture teaching in English teaching and provides the inspiration for English teaching.
