There will be some shortcomings in mould heat treatment and fine machining. In order to overcome these shortcomings, the pre - hardened mould steel is used in manufacturing the plastic mould & die in foreign countries. The types and characteristics of the tools for machining the pre - hardened mould steel are introduced in this paper. The application and developing trend of these tools are discussed.
