Discussing City-Economy along Shandong Canal in Ming and Qing Dynasty

明清时期 ,在运河航运的刺激下 ,山东沿线的临清、济宁已发展成为全国著名的经济城市。城市经济的发展主要表现为坐地贸易与转运贸易的繁荣与活跃 ,这不仅促进了城市的扩大 ,而且也带动了周边农村商品经济的活跃。由于城市经济发展主要是建立在运河作为沟通南北商品流通的基础上 ,也就决定了城市经济的不稳定性。这是认识这类城市经济发展的关键。

During Ming and Qing dynasty, stimulated by the canal shipping,Linqing and Jining had been famous economic cities in our country. The development of the city-economy shows the flourish of local trade and tranships trade. This not only accelerated the city′s enlargement, but also activated the rural economy in this area. Because of the development of city-economy mainly based on the canal shipping, the city-economy′s instability. This is the key to understand the development of this kind of city-economy.
