Towards Civilization from Savage—The Historical Change of Chinese Form of Death Sentence

死刑作为最严厉的惩罚制度,自产生以来经历了由野蛮到文明的曲折演变:夏至秦,其执行方式以残害人的肉体为主,种类繁多,非常残酷;汉代以后,开始了轻刑化过程但有反复;清末法制改革,建立了以自由刑为主的刑罚体系,死刑执行开始人道化。"针决"的最终确立,标志着我国真正进入文明刑罚时期。

Regarded as the most severe penalty,death sentence experiences many changes from savage to civilization from the Xia Dynasty to Qin Dynasty. The main form is to kill a human's body.It is very cruel. After the Han Dynasty, the minor punishment came up.In the legal system reform of the late Qing Dynasty, people set up a punishment system which the main form was free punishment and death sentence humanity. The final establishment of injection shows that China really enters the period of civilized punishment.
