A LINEAR MODEL FOR THE THERMAL EDDY ON THE CONTINENTAL SHELF

摘要 本文对陆架上热生涡旋的生成机制和动力结构作出了理论研究,理论解揭示,由于海面受热增温和海水的热传导现象导致了海水新的温度场,从而也诱生了水平气旋型环流。 Dynamics and mechanism of formation for the ther mal eddy on the continental shelf are examined by solving hydrodynamic and thermodynamic equations analytically. Due to absorption of heat at the sea surface and diffusion of heat in the sea water, a newtemperature field is formed in an isolated sea basin with a thermolcine at z= and a lateral sea front surface at r = 0.4809, which plays a role similar to a natural barrier against heat conduction so that the cold watermass is involved in center of the deep layer. The present linear theoretical model is applied to the study of mechanism of formation for Huanghai sea cold watermass and then some new interesting conclusions are drawn.
