On the Limitations of Structural Grammar

结构语法建构干结构语言学，尽管曾经非常盛行，但由于其自身的局限性——忽视意义的研究、无法真正揭示出各层次间的成分关系以及从形式到形式的研究方法而束缚了自身的发展，导致其势力在语言学历史地位上的逐渐削弱。

Structural Grammar was established on the basis of structural linguistics. Though quite popular at a time, the influence of structural grammar gradually died out in the history of linguistics, which resulted from its own limitations of the negligence of the research in meaning and the inability to disclose the relations between the elements in its structural hierarchy and its “from form to form” research methods which hindered its own development.
