Is Saudi Arabia Ally of the United States in the War against Terrorism?

美国发动的反恐斗争实质上是美国与伊斯兰极端主义的一场较量。美国希望沙特为反恐斗争提供“盟国”式的支持。作者在观察和研究的基础上提出 ,长期以来存在于美国—沙特之间的那种盟国关系很难在反恐斗争中得到体现。本文从沙特王国的政治—文化背景和沙特王室政权的现实政治这两个层面来阐释这一见解 ,并就将来一段时期的美国—沙特关系进行概述。

The anti_terrorist struggle initiated by the United States is, in essence, a contest between the United States and Islamic radicalism. The United States expects Sandi Arabia to provide the support of an ally in the struggle. On the basis of observation and study, the author argues that the long existing alliance between the United states and Sandi Arabia will not be seen in the anti_terrorist struggle. This argument is supported by analysis of the politcal_cultural sistuation in the Kingdom of Sandi Arabia and the realist politics of the royal regime. In the end, the author offers his prediction of U.S.—Sandi relations in the near future.
