The developing trend of foreign vehicle gear oil is inlroduced and analyzed. Based on the
current status of Chinese vehicle gear oil application, it is suggested that a Chinese standard for GL -4 medium load vehicle gear oil shall be established to meet the demand for this oil product in Chinese market.
