Curriculum2005Lifelong Learning for the21st Century was released by the post-apartheid government of South Africa in1997.It went through three phases(ie ,formulation ,review and revision)and placed emphasis on the necessity for a shift from the traditional aims-and-objectives approach to outcomes-based education. This paradigm shift is a necessary prerequisite for promoting a vision of a prosperous ,truly united ,democratic and internationally competitive country with literate ,creative and critical citizens leading productive ,self-fulfilled lives in a country free of violence ,discrimination and prejudice.Curriculum reform in South Africa enlightens us that borrowing from abroad should be based on national conditions and the reform policy should form a complete set ,especially emphasize practical results.
