The Nature-related Metaphor: A Cognitive Perspective

由于中英两国自然条件的巨大差异,相应两种语言与之相关的隐喻往往被认为是语言任意性和民族性的典型体现。但从认知语言学的角度来研究这些隐喻,则可以发现:无论它们的具体取象是否相似,即便是截然相反,隐喻的建构仍然遵循着共同的认知原则,人类的认知共性在隐喻建构的过程中起到了关键性作用。

The nature-related metaphor is usually taken as arbitrariness and national uniqueness of a language system. When viewed from the angle of cognitive linguistics, it, however, embodies universal principles of human cognition, which plays a crucial role in the formation of metaphors.
