Foreignization and domestication are two methods in English idioms' translation because of the catter's strong cultural features. They supplement each other and neither of them can be neglected. Foreignization does a good job in keeping the culture and images for the source language, while domestication can be equally good in conveying the deep meaning and spirit from the source language. Each method has its characteristics and holds its own adoptions.A translator should view the two methods dialectically,and use them a ccordingly.
