慧震还乡与刘勰卒年——与周绍恒先生商榷

The Years of Hui Zhen's Returning to Hometown and Liu Xie's Death——Discussion with Mr. Zhu Shao-heng

周绍恒先生认为,慧震卒于梁大同三年闰九月至五年七月之间,其还乡国的时间为普通七年九月之前,因而推出刘勰卒于普通四五年间的新说。笔者认为周先生引的史料有误,因而推出的结论不实。慧震与刘勰在定林寺撰经,功毕回乡国的时间应为湘东王第一次任荆州刺史的大同三年闰九月至五年七月之间,其卒年应为湘东王第二次任荆州刺史的太清元年正月至二年十月之间。因而,刘勰应卒于大同三四年间。

Mr Zhou Shao-heng thought, in the third issue of Jinyang Journal published in 1989,the date of Hui Zhen's death was between September(leap month) of the third year and July of the fifth year of Datong, Liang Dynasty. He returned to his hometown before September, the seventh year of Putong. So he deduced the new idea that Liu Xie died in the fourth or the fifth year of Putong. I think there are some mistakes in the historical data quoted by Mr Zhou, and the conclusion deduced by him doesn't tally with the actual situation. The date of Hui Zhen's returning to his hometown after he and Liu Xie had written scriptures in Dinglin Temple was between September (leap month) of the third year and July of the fifth year of Datong, when King Xiang Dong worked as Cishi in Jingzhou for the first time.The year of Hui Zhen's death was between January of the first year and October of the next year of Taiqing, when King Xiang Dong worked as Cishi in Jingzhou for the second time. So we can come to the new conclusion that Liu Xie died in the third or fourth year of Datong.
