Mei Niang's novels on marital theme are of autobiographical nature. Not only do they show deep concern and sympathy for women, but they cry out against the destiny of women and seek the way for women's liberation as well. The bold feminine interior monologue in her novels reveals the writer's personal views on love and conveys a strong feminine awareness.
