Cultural identity,is the focus of postcolonial study. Influenced by two cultures of the East and the West, V.S. Naipaul can observe the world in different perspectives. The theme of dislocation, loss of identity and consequent alienation in Half a Life has been a recurring one in Naipaul's works. In this novel, Naipaul takes us to see how Willie and his father in limbo search for a house, identity and belonging.
